    ALABAMA SENIORS
    GOLF ASSOCIATION
    (ASGA)
Welcome to the Alabama Seniors Golf Association. The association is an outgrowth of the Seniors Division of the Alabama Golf Association’s Annual Amateur Chammpionship Tournament.
In January 1967, at a special meeting of the Executive Committee of the Alabama Golf Association held at the Birmingham Country Club, three senior golfers were appointed to a Committee to organize a State Seniors Golf Association.  The three appointees, in the order of their age seniority, were Gordon Smith, Jr., Mobile; Nolan S. Hatcher, Florence; and Harry H. Pritchett, Tuscaloosa.
The purpose of this new Association was to promote fellowship and friendly competition at golf for the increasing number of senior golfers and to advance the best interest of golf and of senior golfers in the State of Alabama.
Following plans which were formulated immediately after their appointment, the Committee sent bulletins to 73 A.G. member clubs and by late April had recruited 200 members.  A special meeting of the membership was held on May 2, 1967, at the Indian Hills Country Club, Tuscaloosa, to formulate policies and crystallize objectives.  The most fruitful meeting was attended by 43 of the new members and many of the plans and policies formulated there are still in effect today.
We enter 2007 our 41th year, with 159 active members, a cash surplus, and a schedule of events that should be challenging as well as enjoyable for the members as well as their ladies. The Board of Governors is dedicated to continue to serve the best interests of all our good members and to improve the image of this Association. We solicit your continued support.
